Bosch

Toughening up precision tools

Feedback from the field was that Bosch laser tools were not built for the USA- the initial design was hard to use with gloves and minimally impact resistant; overall, the tools were too precious to endure demands of a common worksite. Through several rounds of user-feedback driven brainstorms, a European product that was suffering in an American market was revamped. The redesign found the perfect balance between precise and rugged.

Design

I led and facilitated a discovery process with our client and uncovered and utilized insights from trade professionals to create a product that expresses the Bosch brand and tool intelligence while being tough enough for any job

The final product family features a roll cage TPE design on the laser, large surfaces with embossing chamfers, and structural details to simultaneously create an ergonomic grip and rugged look.
